Overview

What is Management?

The Management section is your command center for daily financial operations. It includes four core tools: transaction categorization, zero-based budgeting (Blueprint), cash flow tracking, and recurring transaction management. Together, these features help you understand where your money goes and give you control over your spending.

Step by Step

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Review Your Transactions

Navigate to Management → Transactions. You'll see all transactions from your connected accounts, auto-categorized by our 6-step engine.

  • Ghost categories appear with tiered opacity based on confidence
  • Click the checkmark to confirm suggested categories
  • Click the category dropdown to recategorize
  • Use the split icon to divide a transaction across multiple categories

2. Build Your Budget (Blueprint)

Navigate to Management → Blueprint. This is your zero-based budgeting interface.

  • Enter your monthly income at the top
  • Allocate dollars to each spending category until “Ready to Assign” reaches $0
  • Toggle rollover on categories where you want surplus to carry forward
  • Watch the “Available” column update in real-time as you spend

3. Track Cash Flow

Navigate to Management → Cash Flow. See your cash flow at a glance.

  • Switch between Table view (month-by-month breakdown) and Sankey view (single-month flow diagram)
  • In Sankey view, click any month chip to flip the diagram to that month
  • Projected months appear with dashed borders (based on recurring transactions)
  • Use the sparkline to spot trends over the past 6 months

4. Manage Recurring Transactions

Navigate to Management → Recurring. Review detected patterns.

  • Rikdom auto-detects recurring patterns (same merchant, similar amount, regular interval)
  • Confirm detected recurring transactions or mark as one-time
  • Confirmed recurring transactions improve cash flow projections
  • Edit interval or expected amount if patterns change

Pro Tips

Pro Tips

  • Confirm ghost categories early: The auto-learn engine needs 3 confirmations to create a rule. The sooner you confirm, the smarter the system gets.
  • Enable rollover strategically: Categories like “Dining” benefit from rollover (unused budget becomes a buffer). Fixed costs like “Rent” don't need it.
  • Watch the Spending Health score: On the Management landing page, this 0-100 score flags anomalies. A drop below 50 means you're spending 15%+ more than usual in one or more categories.
  • Credit card simplicity: Rikdom categorizes by what you bought, not payment method. No envelope shuffling—spending hits your budget category whether you used debit, credit, or cash. Your credit card balance is tracked separately in Accounts.
